Welcome from the Principal
We would like to welcome you warmly to the Braga International School founded in 1999, with formal authorization to operate with date 03/03/2006, to provide a balanced and relevant high quality education to the Portuguese and International community of Braga.
The great majority of our students are Portuguese but the school recognizes the international composition of the student body in the Portuguese context through appropriate diversity of its programs, teaching materials and activities.
The Lower School (3 -9 years) and the Early Upper School (10 – 13 years) curriculum are based on the English National Curriculum modified to suit an international clientele. The Upper School (14-18 years) prepares students for the Cambridge IGCSE examinations and the AICE Diploma (AS and A2 level examinations).
Know more about CLIB
Our pupils will acquire equivalency at both a National and International level permitting them to make the transition from our system of education to the National System and to progress to Universities both nationally and internationally.
English is the language of teaching and learning and its use, fluency and accuracy are promoted to the fullest extent. There is support when needed for English as a foreign language as well as from a School Psychologist and Special Needs specialists. Practical experiences, both inside and outside the classroom, are a vital aspect of the curriculum. Throughout the school, day outings, field trips and residential trips are organized to support learning.
The focus on high academic standards is balanced by a concern to develop pupils’ intellectual, emotional, physical, social and moral needs building upon the skills which the parents have fostered in their child at home. Our aim is to achieve an all-round, fulfilling education for our students and to ensure that they are well prepared to be responsible citizens. The highest value is placed on good social behaviour and moral standards in which respect for the individual and the environment are paramount. Our students’ safety is a priority and as a consequence, CLIB is a closed campus. There is a strong extra-curricular programme including social development, sports and performing arts.
