Legal Status and Equivalence

CLIB is recognised and authorised by the Ministry of Education in Portugal and registered in the ‘List of Establishments’ of the DAPP (Departamento de Avaliação Prospectiva e Planeamento do Ministério da Educação) with Nº 303254.

As such, the school is an educational alternative that follows the objectives of the Portuguese education system operating under permanent license issued by DREN in accordance with article 160.

All of our programs of study have parallel equivalencies with the Portuguese Educational System with no necessity to sit national examinations. The final exam (AICE – Advanced International Certificate of Education), provided by Cambridge University’s International Examination Board, that the students write in their twelfth year has equivalency with all of the educational fields in the Portuguese secondary education system, accorded by the ‘Portaria 779/98 de 16 de Setembro’.

This is an internationally recognised curriculum only available from authorised schools. Additionally, students who have completed the AICE exams may be exempt from entrance tests for admission to Portuguese University, in accordance with ‘o Decreto-Lei 99/99 de 30 de Março’ and the ‘deliberations’ published annually since 2000. In these cases, the mark that the student obtains on the AICE must meet the requirements of the faculty.

Where a Portuguese University demands a student studies a subject that would not be offered through the AICE diploma we would normally be able to provide this subject as an addition to the students curriculum and prepare them for the National Examination. The AICE diploma is an accepted matriculation qualification throughout the world.
