Literature Week
During literature week, many literature figures, authors and characters abandoned their books and visited the school,
to decorate the most beautiful “literature doors” that opened the horizons of children and teenagers, colouring with the magic of words all the classrooms. Other literature figures gained new life during the shared readings between students throughout the week, in Form 4’s play, and particularly in the carnival catwalk,an open book to the world of words. Upper School students also had the opportunity of meeting literature figures from Mozambique, through the book “Gorongosa”, presented by Drª Isabel Silva. Shakespeare, Camões and Cervantes played the main role in the “Treasure Hunt” activity by inspiring the students from the different Houses, in what turned out to be a fun and competitive afternoon dedicated to literature! The book marks, designed by Lower School students, marked future readings, highlighting this very inspired page, as well as the stories created by Form 2 students, who, at the school entrance, continued to greet the young readers. The week came to an end with a cinema session where Billy Elliot came to visit us leaving food for thought to reflect on various themes. The evidence of all these literature icons continues displayed in all the corners of the school, reminding us that words turn what is transitory and subject to change into long lasting and eternal!
