| Topics can be academic; social; cultural; sportive; political; philanthropic, in fact they can deal with pretty much any issue you care to imagine. We remember, we look forward to, we celebrate, we commiserate, we empathise and we hypothesise. CLIB assemblies don’t seek to provide the answers but rather to encourage our students to ask the right questions. Assemblies seek to instil in our students a sense of curiosity, fairness, justice, an ability to see the bigger picture and a willingness to think outside the box. Such was this week’s assembly which looked at the recent events in Paris. The tragic happenings of that fateful week have brought to the fore many important issues for the world of today. A number of these issues such as: freedom of speech; tolerance; ethnic and religious stereotyping and multiculturalism were reflected upon. Our students certainly did not leave with all the answers but hopefully with a greater willingness to start asking the right questions. |
